Summary

Theory and clinical experiences are provided to students in proper collection of blood and other specimens used in diagnostic testing. Emphasis is placed on ethics, legalities, medical terminology, safety and universal precautions, healthcare delivery systems, patient relations, anatomy and physiology as well as specimen collection. Upon completion of this course students should be prepared to safely perform procedures necessary for specimen collections on patients in various healthcare settings and are encouraged to apply for national certification as a phlebotomy technician.

The Phlebotomy  Technician textbook [$89.55], which is required for the course, can be purchased by contacting the college bookstore at 252.249.1851 ext. 3006.
